Club Meeting MInutes
March 6th, 2019
President Dan Woods brought the meeting to order at 7:05 pm at the Paris Gibson School Gym with 11 members in attendance. Secretary Chuck Woods read the minutes from the February meeting and they were accepted as read. Treasurer Darrel Anderson read the treasurer’s report, it was also accepted as read.
We welcomed a new member, David Dewitt, from Minnesota. Welcome David!
Old Business: Oliver Gross asked about what could be built at our build night and what materials could be used. Dan Woods told him that anything is welcome.
Steve Woodhouse told the group that there is too much snow at his landing field for the Field of the Month flying. It will be held at the Fort Benton airport and moved to the 23rd of March. Dan Woods will post directions to the Airport on our Facebook page and John Sandy organized breakfast at 8am at the Missouri River Diner here in Great Falls before we head out to Fort Benton.
John Sandy offered to hold the next Build Night on March 14th at 6:30 pm. Contact John for his address.
The 2019 annual banquet was discussed, and Steve Woodhouse made a motion to have it at the Montana Club, John Sandy seconded, and the motion was carried. Dan Woods will book it for either December 7th or 14th, probably in the afternoon depending on availability.
New Business: John Sandy told everyone that former member, Tom O’hara’s wife has passed and there will be a celebration of life for her on March 16th at the Black Eagle Community Center at 2pm.
Darrel Anderson had some information about our AMA district and the “Leader Member Minute.” They are encouraging everyone to get all the FAA knowledge possible. There is a link to the FAA on our website. Darrel also talked about how important safety is to the AMA and that having a Safety Coordinator is mandatory. Darrel recommends that every member register at the AMA website with a username and password to access all the content the AMA has to offer its members.
Dan Woods then mentioned he has posted our events on our Facebook page. John Sandy got on the subject of promoting our hobby with perhaps a mall show, but said that our mall is nearly vacant and not a good venue. Dan Woods brought up the Home and Garden Show but there is a cost to have a booth there. Steve Woodhouse then said that there are some not for profit booths there and it may be worth looking into.
Don Woods made the motion to adjourn, Oliver Gross seconded, and the meeting was adjourned at 7:40 pm.
Thanks to all that attended.
