Big Sky RC Meeting Minutes
Jun 02, 2026
President Dan Woods brought the meeting to order at 7:01 PM at the Stadium Sports Bar and Casino with 9 members in attendance.
Secretary Don Gilles read May’s meeting minutes and they were accepted as read.
Treasurer Darrell Anderson read the Treasurer’s report and it was accepted as read.
Old business:
Dan Woods gave us a rundown on the 16 May Spring Thaw race. We had 25 drivers and 52 entries compared with 30 drivers and 67 entries during Spring Thaw 2025. The Siberian temperatures and threat of a rain-out probably played a part in that.
Gerry Knight let us know that his line painting contacts were a bust – we’ll need to paint the lines ourselves. This item is still TBD.
Darrell Anderson is still working the frequency board roof repair – he hopes to get the roof measured for an estimate on using metal.
Don Gilles let everyone know the mower maintenance is done and the mowers are ready for use. He took delivery of a load of gravel we plan on using to fill in some mud holes. We paid about $550 for about 10 yards of gravel which was a full standard truck load. Don also said that spraying is done for now. Please give John Sandy a thanks for hauling his tank sprayer out to the field when gas prices are $4.50 a gallon and for the 8 hours of his time it took to spray the entire complex. The rains have surely washed the blue dye away and new weeds can start sprouting.
Don Woods stated the outhouse roof vent is repaired and can be reinstalled. Don MacGyvered the vent with some minor modifications to make it better, stronger and faster than before. Let’s see how it handles next winter’s wind storms and we’ll report back.
New business:
Don Gilles reminded everyone we have a club fly event this Saturday, 6 June. We’re asking for some help this Friday afternoon around 1-4pm for a small work party event to clean up the flying area. We plan to have lunch at Arby’s at 12pm and then head out to the field when we’re done eating. When the field mowing is done everyone is welcome to fly as the weather is projected to be sunshine and high 70s.
Thanks to all attendees, the meeting was adjourned at 7:40 pm.
