BSRC March Meeting Minutes

Big Sky RC Meeting Minutes
11 March 2025

President Dan Woods brought the meeting to order at 7:04 PM at the Pitstop with 12 members in attendance. We had 3 new members at the meeting.

President Dan Woods read January’s meeting minutes and they were accepted as read. There wasn’t an official meeting in February.

Treasurer Darrell Anderson read the Treasurer’s report and it was accepted as read.

Old business:

Dan Woods started old business with the talk of purchasing a shipping container. John Weinzettel said that he knows someone that sells/markets them so there was talk of a discount and using that as sponsorship for 406 R/C. After much discussion, Jason Naranjo made a motion for an amount (not to exceed) of $4000 to be used to purchase a container, Dave Grosse seconded and the motion passed.

We talked more about the container and if our property taxes would be affected. Dan Woods had originally planned to use a container as a driver’s stand but now it would probably be used to extend the one already in place.

There was much talk about sponsorship for the race weekends, prices, packages, and what a sponsor would get in return. Right now it’s advertisements on posters and signs and it was agreed that there is a lot of room at the field for these.

Dave Grosse started some more conversation about donations and sponsors and whether or we should be purchasing signage for advertisements or the sponsor.

Jerry Knight mentioned that he had been involved with the signage and sponsors for the speedway and could check into how they did it. Jerry also mentioned his connection to the flyers in Cutbank and since they don’t have a FRIA field, some flyers are planning trips to Great Falls events.

New business:

New Business started with the need to rebuild some of the tables at the flying site. Dave Grosse figured it will be about $100 per table. Dave Grosse made a motion to make the necessary repairs, and Don Woods seconded, and the motion passed.

Dave Grosse mentioned that we need to get on the weed control early.

Jason Naranjo is going to get an excavator for track work and planning a work party in April.

Dave Grosse suggested that the club buys lunch for anyone that comes out to help and we agreed that was a good idea. John W., Jason N., and Dan W., will use social media to get the word out.

Ryan Myers talked about Malmstrom AFB’s Morale, Welfare & Recreation (MWR) and how there should be lots of folks on base that would be interested in helping with the club and flying events.
