Big Sky RC Meeting Minutes

President Dan Woods brought the meeting to order at 7:03 PM at the Great Falls VFW with 10 members in attendance.
Secretary Don Gilles read June’s meeting minutes and they were accepted as read.
Treasurer Darrell Anderson read the Treasurer’s report and it was accepted as read.
Old business:
Dan Woods gave a run-down on the two June events; the Wadsworth Park Float Fly and the Club Fly at BSRC Field.
New business:
Dan Woods reminded everyone of our upcoming open house event this Saturday, 11 July. We’ll be having lunch for a small fee like always. Dan continued with some show and tell – he made trophies with his 3d printer for the Wednesday night league racing – they looked good. Dan said that he would continue to make the trophies if the club would pay for the materials and $5.00 per trophy printed. This would be about half what we’ve been paying for custom trophies. Don Woods made a motion that the club agree to the $5.00 and materials as stated. Motion approved.
Don Gilles briefed the group on how the mesh tarp worked on Frenchy’s shack. The 10×12 mesh tarp lets you see through it but still blocks quite a bit of wind. Jason Naranjo made a motion for Don to spend approximately $100.00 to purchase two more of the tarps and some various sundries for field maintenance. Motion approved.
Dan Woods let us know that the club needs a trailer for hauling water, skid steers and rollers out to the field. A discussion ensued about insurance requirements & licensing. It was decided to do a pre-approval for this as we did with the generator last year. This will allow us to keep our eye out for a used 10k, dual axle trailer and make a quick purchase. Don Woods made a motion for the club to allot $3000.00 for the trailer. Motion approved.
Dan Woods then reminded us that the Summer Heat racing event is also coming up on Saturday, 25 July.
** Not a business item but as you can see from the notes we used the VFW for our monthly meeting – it seems like everyone approved. We’ll probably be here for the next few meetings as we test out this location. Tuesday night is taco night at the VFW – they were pretty tasty.

Club meetings are the first Tuesday night of the month at the Great Falls VFW, 7pm.
Club lunch is every Friday, noon at Arby’s.
Wednesday night is our designated “get-together” night for club flying.
