BSRC June Meeting Minutes

Big Sky RC Meeting Minutes
3 Jun 2025

President Dan Woods brought the meeting to order at 7:09 PM at the Pitstop with 6 members and 1 guest in attendance.

Our guest was Dick Cochran. He has a couple airplanes that belonged to Bob Grayson he’s giving away. The airplanes were quickly obtained by Don Woods.

Secretary Don Gilles read May’s meeting minutes and they were accepted as read.

Treasurer Darrell Anderson read the Treasurer’s report and it was accepted as read.

Old business:

Dan Woods opened old business with a financial report on Spring Thaw. We cleared a $950.46 profit which will be heavily used for summer maintenance and upkeep of the BSRC complex. Dan used some of this profit to purchase a more powerful PA which he has already installed in the snack shack.

Dan Woods continued old business with an update on the new outhouse which has been ordered from Fagenstroms. The toilet vault has actually already been built and is ready for delivery. We’ll be digging the hole soon so please watch for safety cones near the digging area.

Dan Woods contacted the container dealer Jeff Thill and asked about the availability of containers and pricing. At this time there are no 40′ containers that meet our needs and the price is prohibitively expensive at $8500. This led to an additional conversation about using a container for a driver’s stand. As it stands, pun intended, it’s more likely we can afford to extend the existing stand by 14′ over the snack shack for ~ $1100 and purchase a 20′ container to be used as a new storage shed. Currently a 20′ with two doors is $4800.

New business:

John Sandy opened new business with a reminder of our 7 Jun Club Fly. We’ll be having burgers / soda / chips for $5 – $6 depending on what you order.

Darrell Anderson briefed everyone on the Helena Fly-In. Several BSRC members went down for the event and had a great time.

Lastly, Don Gilles let everyone know he and John Sandy sprayed for weed control over the entire complex on 3 June. Blue dye was used over most areas to highlight what was sprayed. This dye lasts for a few days. John and Don plan on mowing Friday, 6 June. It’ll take about a week before the weeds will show very visible signs of wilting. The spraying took just over 5 hours and was accomplished with John’s personal 25 gallon tank sprayer. We used ~50 gallons of water, 2 gallons of Pramitol 25E and a gallon of Roundup.

Thanks to all attendees, the meeting was adjourned at 7:54 pm.
