BSRC October Meeting Minutes

Big Sky RC Meeting Minutes
7 Oct 2025

President Dan Woods brought the meeting to order at 7:02 PM at the Pitstop with 12 members in attendance.

Secretary Don Gilles read September’s meeting minutes and they were accepted as read.

Treasurer Darrell Anderson read the Treasurer’s report and it was accepted as read.

Old business:

Dan Woods opened the meeting with a review of expenses for the Fall Fury RC event. We closed out the year in the black and Dan promises to get a finance report out for review soon.

Dan Woods continued with an update on indoor flying. There will be no indoor flying on 15 Oct as the gym is unavailable. Flying at Paris Gibson will resume 22 Oct @ 6pm.

John Sandy gave a recap on the Havre Invitational and the Leo Sommerfeld Memorial Funfly. Both were lots of fun – pictures from Leos are posted in the pictures section of the web site and a short blog is up for the Havre event. John also had an update on the old outhouse – due to other events Steve Woodhouse will be relocating the outhouse next spring.

Jerry Knight let us know the old sheds have been sold for $1000.00. And since those sheds pre-date the race track we can say that once again we have the flying side of the club generating more cold hard cash. Might get me some more mower blades with all that money… 🙂

Closing out old business Dan Woods gave a show and tell on Mini-Z racing. Dan had a track setup in the meeting room with a couple of cars. It’s looking like Mini-Z racing will probably happen at the Pitstop the last two Tuesdays of the month. Dan is going to post more information to our BSRC Facebook site as the date & time are firmed up.

New business:

Don Gilles briefed that one of our fellow members, William Smith, is exiting the flying hobby and wishes to sell his complete setup as a package deal. It consists of a new Spektrum NX8+ radio, an Apprentice STS 1.5 RTF Smart Trainer with SAFE and the Landing Assist Sensor and the original RTF radio controller. Also included are two 3200mah flight batteries, the basic charger, and a new custom fit Pelican case for the Spektrum radio. He’s asking $600 and can be reached at 406-781-2870.

Dan closed out tonight’s meeting with a minor update on the new outhouse – he continues to do some finish work as he has time and curiosity to do so. He may or may not install the second vent stack depending on how bad the odors might get. He’s also putting a vent cap on the existing stack that whistles in the wind. This helps to draw attention to your existing discomfort as you wonder if anyone is peeking through the cracks between the stalls.

Thanks to all attendees, the meeting was adjourned at 7:44 pm.
