Big Sky RC Meeting Minutes

President Dan Woods brought the meeting to order at 7:03 PM at the Pitstop with 8 members in attendance.
Secretary Don Gilles read November’s meeting minutes and they were accepted as read.
Treasurer Darrell Anderson read the Treasurer’s report and it was accepted as read.
Old business:
Dan Woods started with the Christmas banquet which is coming up soon on 20 Dec, 6pm to 9pm here at the Pit Stop.
– We’ll probably go with the 64-piece chicken dinner with tater tots, beans and garlic bread.
– We also ask that you consider bringing a desert side dish to share.
– There will be a gift exchange for those who wish to participate, $20 max value. Gifts can be stolen twice.
– Dan plans on getting some gift cards as we have done in the past.
– Dan will be asking for RSVPs so he can get a tentative head count of those planning on attending.
Charles Linear made a motion that we spend $300 on gift certificates for the Christmas banquet. Motion passed.
Dan Woods advised members that all club positions needed to be finalized. Some discussions ensued as Dan reminded everyone he wanted to step down as club president. We all advised Dan this wasn’t possible and to just buck-up and stop quibbling over the vote. Before Dan could speak any more objections, Don Woods made a motion to finalize the positions which passed unanimously with the exception of Dan who, again, attempted to oppose but was ignored.
IAW Article VI of the Big Sky R/C Modelers By-Laws, the Officers for 2026 will be:
President: Dan Woods
Vice President: John Sandy
Treasurer: Darrell Anderson
Secretary: Don Gilles
As a reminder, we also have three non-elected positions which for 2026 will be:
Safety Coordinator: Chuck Woods
Field Marshal: Dave Grosse
Track Marshal: Jason Naranjo
New business:
Darrell Anderson let us know he received a notice from the FAA that our authorization to fly at Wadsworth and Elks Riverside Parks was renewed and now expires on 09 Nov 2027. As a reminder, this letter authorizes BSRC members and their guests to fly at these two locations without a RemoteID module. When flying at these locations you must also have a copy of the FAA letter which is included with this email as an attachment.

NOTE: This letter is not applicable to the BSRC Field proper, just Wadsworth and Riverside Park. BRSC Field is covered under a separate FAA-Recognized Identification Area (FRIA) authorization which is valid to 24 Aug 2027.
Dan Woods ended the meeting with a discussion on our dues and whether or not we should increase them. Many ideas were discussed but most agreed that a small increase is probably warranted and will be discussed in greater detail at an upcoming meeting.

Indoor Flying – Wednesday at the Paris Gibson Education Center – 6:00pm-9:00pm
Club meetings are the first Tuesday night of the month at the Pitstop, 7pm.
Club lunch is every Friday, noon at Hardees.
Wednesday night is our designated “get-together” night for club flying.
